Hotline Advice
Legal advice is provided over the telephone to low-income clients who are not represented by a lawyer. As the demand for legal aid increases and funding has become increasingly short, more people find themselves forced into representing themselves in legal disputes. CCLA assists clients by advising them of their legal rights and responsibilities, as well as how to navigate the legal process when necessary. Staff and volunteer attorneys answer legal questions, review documents, assist in understanding or completing court forms, and sometimes make letter or phone inquiries on behalf of clients.
Our intake hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. However, phone calls are returned throughout the week during regular business hours. CCLA’s services are free to low-income clients. Clients who do not qualify for free services may be charged a $25 or $35 fee.
