d'Vine @ Home Parties
Host Your Own d'Vine @ Home Party
In preparation for the 12th Annual Catholic Charities d'Vine Affair you can host a Wine Tasting Party in your home in support of the 2012 event. Last year over $50,000 was raised at home parties which went to underwrite the January event.
What is a Home Tasting Party?
Parties are hosted in the homes of our supporters (or in local restaurants) and feature a tasting of eight premium wines. Monetary donations are collected in support of the d'Vine Affair which supports Catholic Charities' Self-Sufficiency Programs.
When are they held?
Parties can be held anytime throughout the year.
At the party
Encourage your guests to attend the d'Vine Affair on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Union League Club of Chicago. The reservation forms allow your guests a chance to purchase their tickets at your tasting.
You may conduct the tasting anyway you wish; serve the wines one at a time or make them all available for your guests to taste at will.
Please call (312)948-6797 if you would like to host a party and discuss any further questions about your role as host.
After the party
An envelope addressed to Catholic Charities will be given to you so that the donations can be easily sent to the offices of Catholic Charities to be deposited. Wine glasses can be kept as a gift or returned to the main offices at 721 N. LaSalle, Chicago, IL. 60654. Guests will receive an acknowledgment letter for their tax purposes for any contribution made to the cause.
What are the host duties in advance of the party
Select a party date. Then invite your friends. Invitation samples and templates are available, but please feel free to format the invitations in your own style.
Be creative when planning the details for your party. For example, you may choose to plan a simple wine and cheese garden party, a fall buffet, or create a meal around the different wines.
Explain to your invitees that they will be treated to a tasting of eight fine wines courtesy of Louis Glunz Wines and that this is a fundraising party for Catholic Charities upcoming d'Vine Affair. Ask each guest to make a cash donation to support the event they are attending. No minimum contribution is set for your guests.
Plan hors d'oeuvres, tapas, or food of your choice that will be complimented by fine wine. Hosts will be provided with the following materials to distribute to guests:
- 8 bottles of premium wines per 12 guests
- Printed descriptions of the wines
- d'Vine Affair tasting glasses
- d'Vine Affair reservation forms for the event on Sunday, January 27, 2013
- Description of the Catholic Charities Family Self-Sufficiency Program
