Catholic Charities Family Services

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago directly supported thousands of families last year by providing emergency financial assistance to cover expenses such as rent, utilities, food, medical costs, and transportation. As our staff help these working poor families meet their immediate financial needs, their underlying problems often come to the surface. Those that seek our care struggle with poverty, poor living conditions and homelessness, unemployment, and limited education.

A few things you should know

• Over 1 million people throughout Cook and Lake counties regardless of religious tradition, ethnicity or social status were assisted by Catholic Charities in 2011.
• $700,000 is the cost to run Catholic Charities for one day.
• 157 programs in 162 different sites operate on a daily basis at Catholic Charities, many 24 hours a day.
• 92 cents of every dollar we raise goes directly to help people in need.
