"The Derby Whodunit": TesserAct Theatre Ensemble- Artistic Director Tamara Kist
The murder mystery unfolds inside the Sanfilippo Estate Carousel Building, Barrington Hills. In the background, an 1890 European salon carousel; an 1881 Grant Locomotive, and a Joseph Mayer cast iron street clock that stands 20 feet tall. American and European fairground and dance hall organs, including examples by Bruder, DeCap, and Gavioli cloak the atmosphere of intrigue.
"The Derby Whodunit"
When a rich horse owner is murdered at the 1940's Sanfilippo Derby, an investigation ensues, revealing secret identities, volatile relationships and undisclosed financial troubles. Are shattered dreams, high interest loans, and floundering reputations enough motivation for murder? Watch Inspector Steed uncover the web of deceit, as fortunes and love hang in the balance. Can you guess whodunit?
As the bugler cries "First Call to Post" hug the rail with Derby favorites such as Fried Green Tomatoes, Mint Juleps, pecan pie, and cornbread. Delights also include bacon wrapped shrimp, mozzarella/tomato skewers, salad, chicken picatta with sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes, beef tenderloin medallions au jus, duchess potatoes, and assorted French pastries.
Ladies, trot to the finish line donning your most outlandish, elegant, unspeakable, or otherwise Derby-style hat for a chance to win the "Hat-i-tude Contest"
