Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago celebrates adoption year-round with its many services for both biological and adoptive families. Supporting families is at the very core of the agency’s mission--to serve anyone in need. From counseling parents facing an unplanned pregnancy, to placing children and carefully preparing and screening adoptive parents, to providing post-adoption registry services, respite and adoption/guardianship support services, Catholic Charities sees adoption as a life-long commitment.

Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood, was chosen as a recipient of $2,500 in grant funding from Jewel-Osco’s Hunger Relief Grant Program. The funds will help keep the food pantry’s truck running, which is essential to stocking the shelves each week. Casa Catalina served 60,000 area residents last year, providing them with nutritious foods, clothing and other services to help them meet their basic human needs.

“Wallyfest,” a party to benefit Catholic Charities’ Homelessness Programs in South Cook County, will take place on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 7 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish Hall, at 15050 S. Wolf Road in Orland Park, Illinois.

On Saturday, November 1, 2008, Catholic Charities’ South Suburban Region welcomed 230 guests at Villa de Bruno in Lynwood, Ill., to celebrate the agency’s 20 years of service to people in need at its 5th Annual “Compassion in Action” Benefit Dinner-Dance.
