Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago served Christmas
Dinner to 130 low-income people on December 25, 2007 at the agency’s
headquarters, 721 N. LaSalle Street, Chicago. Dinner was served by
volunteers at 2 p.m. The meal concluded around 3:30 p.m. Food for the
event was donated by Keefer’s Restaurant.
Over 1,000 meals per week are served through
Catholic Charities’ Evening Supper Program. The agency started this
service in 2001 to provide immediate support to poor individuals and
families. In addition to its downtown location, Catholic Charities
provides suppers in certain suburbs each week through its network of
regional offices.
"My thanks to all who volunteered today to help us with serving the
hungry on Christmas Day. I am especially grateful to Glen Keefer and
his family for their continued generosity to Catholic Charities," said
Reverend Michael Boland, President, CEO and Administrator for Catholic
Charities.
