Sold-Out Harvest of Hope Event Raises $128,000 for Those in Need in North Suburbs
Wednesday, October 18, 2017 by Communications

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago North Regional Office’s sold-out Harvest of Hope fundraising event hosted more than 405 attendees on Friday, October 13, in Wilmette. The event raised $128,000 to benefit struggling families in the North Suburban communities of Niles, Skokie, Glenview, Northbrook, Wilmette, Winnetka, Morton Grove, Rosemont, Park Ridge, and Evanston.

“Our offices provide food, clothing, shelter, counseling, and other services to tens of thousands of people each year,” said Adriana Kelly, North Regional Director. “We are so grateful to all those who generously gave, our sponsors, co-chaircouples, and our awardee Sister Paulanne Held for her comments on the needs within our communities and our responsibility to help. It was a fantastic showing of support for Catholic Charities as we celebrate our 100th year as an agency.”

The event opened with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent auction. The dinner program included a personal story from one of Catholic Charities New Hope Apartments clients, who overcame escaping a domestic violence situation and homelessness with her two young children.

Co-chaircouples Jim & Sharon Riley and Rich & Patty Tilghman, all of Glenview, and Catholic Charities President and CEO Monsignor Michael M. Boland also offered remarks. Sister Paulanne Held of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glenview was honored with the Heart of Charity Award for her tireless commitment to serving those in need. Televised horse racing closed out the exciting, successful event.
