Legal Lifelines Event Raises $150,000 for Catholic Charities Legal Assistance Program

On Thursday, April 19, more than 245 people attended Catholic Charities Legal Lifelines Cocktail Reception, raising $150,000 for those in need. Held at The Union League Club of Chicago, this event is the sole fundraiser for Catholic Charities Legal Assistance Program, which offers a wide range of legal services for low- to no-income individuals who otherwise could not afford an attorney.

Co-Chairs of the event were Megan Donohue, Patrick A. Salvi, and Christie L. Starzec. 

The 2018 award recipients were:

Justice for the Poor Award – Blue Cross-Blue Shield Association and DLA Piper: Since 2016, both BCBSA and DLA Piper have been partnering with CCLA to host and staff quarterly legal clinics to assist residential parents in their efforts to obtain much needed child support on behalf of their children.

Jeanne S. Casey and Mary G. Fitzpatrick Justice for All Award – Supreme Court Justice Thomas L. Kilbride: Justice Kilbride led the Illinois Supreme Court to form the Illinois Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission in 2012, whose purpose is to make access to justice a high priority for everyone in the legal system.
