Back to School Supply Drive to Help 850 Children in Lake County Have a Successful School Year
Tuesday, July 11, 2017 by Communications
We all remember the joy of opening a new box of crayons or turning the paper in our new notebook. Now you can help more than 850 children in Lake County have a successful school year by donating school supplies to the annual Catholic Charities school supply drive!

The growing list of school supplies for children can be overwhelming and costly for many parents. On average, parents spend more than $100 on school supplies for their children in the fall.

Low-income families in Lake County who participate in Catholic Charities programs and other children from the community will receive new backpacks filled all the school supplies children need to have a successful school year. Catholic Charities, with the help of donations from the community, ensures that each child will have the backpack and supplies they need to start the upcoming school year.

Want to help? Organize a school supply drive in your community or company, collect new supplies from your family, friends and neighbors, or donate a new backpack filled with supplies.

Donations of the following items are needed. All items must be new.

• New backpacks
• Tissue boxes
• New #2 pencils, black and blue pens
• New crayons, highlighters, markers, colored pencils
• New glue sticks, scotch tape, pencil sharpeners
• New spiral notebooks, binders loose leaf paper, index cards
• New pocket folders, rulers, protractors, scissors, erasers

All donations should be delivered by Friday, August 4 to Catholic Charities at 671 S. Lewis Ave., in Waukegan between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
