Street Intervention identifies teens and young adults needing alternative education, working primarily out of the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Outreach workers establish and enroll teens at the alternative high school on the same site, which is run by the Chicago Public Schools. The Street Intervention Program improves the lives of at-risk youth by providing positive environments of structure of support. Through interactions with outreach workers and utilization of service provided, the young men and women of the Back of the Yards neighborhood gain a clearer path to positive alternative educational opportunities, violence-free living and self-reliance.
