Housing for Persons with Physical Disabilities
The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 811 program serves families comprised of people who are at least 18 years of age or older and with at least one member of the household who has a physical disability. The program alsoprovides project rental assistance, which covers the difference between the HUD-approved operating costs of the project and the tenants' contribution toward rent. The apartments have full kitchens and private baths. Residents are responsible for their own cooking, housekeeping, laundry and personal care. The two HUD 811 facilities are located in close proximity to federally assisted buildings managed by Catholic Charities, so residents have access to features such as community room with kitchen, libraries, on-site laundry facilities, monthly newsletters, planned informal, social and recreational activities.
