The Department of Human Resources provides human resource services that enable the Agency to recruit, hire, and retain qualified employees who can deliver professional services to our clients. The Department contributes to Catholic Charities being a humane, compassionate, and professional employer.

Employee Services - Provides personnel transactions processing; Credit Union membership administration; staff recruitment; governmental, affirmative action and EEOC compliance; wage assignments and employment verification; and personnel policy development and implementation.

Negotiates and/or administers health, dental, long term disability and life insurance and the pension plan. Provides information on tax sheltered annuities (403(b) Plan). Provides burial resources for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Staff Development and Education

Provides mandatory and elective education and training programs for direct service, support, and management personnel, including orientation for new employees and supervisors, management team, leadership development, the employee wellness program, CPR and computer training classes. Sponsors distribution of Continuing Education Credits through accrediting agencies and clinical trainings for staff. Administers tuition assistance program and the external educational program which provide monetary assistance to employees for certifications and advanced educational opportunities for staff in support of program needs. Facilitates the placement and monitors the agency field-work students and interns. Supports recruitment efforts of the agency by strategically attending career fairs and building relationships with area higher educational institutions. Honors staff through the bi-annual Service Awards ceremony, quarterly Employee Recognition Awards and the annual All Staff Day meeting.
