Planned Giving

If you knew a few small steps could…

      …feed a hungry child.

      …mend a broken spirt.

…lift a family out of poverty.

Would you take those small steps?

A few small steps, like including a bequest in your will or signing a form, can translate into a meaningful legacy.
Mother Teresa once said “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” This is true of legacy gifts, where even the smallest gift, done with great love, will ensure that Catholic Charities will help people in need for years to come.

Contact Us
We are always available for a conversation if you choose to support us now or at any time in the future. Contact Margaret Hughes, Director of Individual and Planned Giving, at (312) 655-7012 or mhughes@catholiccharities.net.

Information for Your Advisors
Please use our legal name when you include us in your plans: Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Our tax ID number: 36-2170821. Address: 721 N. LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654.

Shape the Future with a Bequest Gift
A few sentences in your will or trust can be the basis of a meaningful gift of care and comfort to people who need help. Your bequest can be in honor of or in memory of someone special. You can support a favorite program, or allow us to use your gift for the needs and opportunities that are most relevant when it is received.

Bequests of any size are appreciated and welcome. You may specify an exact amount, a percentage of your estate, or what remains after providing for your heirs.

Beneficiary Designations
To make us a full or percentage beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), commercial annuity, or life insurance policy, simply request change of beneficiary form from your plan administrator. Use our legal name, address, and tax ID as listed above under Information for Your Advisors.

Savings, Checking, or Investment Accounts
Catholic Charities can be named a beneficiary of these accounts, simplifying the planning and administration tasks for your executor.

Direct Gifts from Your IRA
If you are 70-1/2 or older, you can make a gift directly from an IRA to one or more charities, which is tax-smart because you will not pay taxes on the charitable distribution.
We have a sample letter you may send to your plan provider to make a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA.

A Gift of Great Love. A Legacy of Hope.
The Legacy of Hope Society honors people who include us in a will or trust or make another type of planned gift. Members receive invitations to special events and other benefits.
