The Lake County Youth Mentorship Program: Connecting Kids with Great Role Models!
Catholic Charities is doing our part to support youth and help them deal with stress while social distancing. We are now using virtual platforms to ensure youth are connecting with volunteers who can help them reach their full potential. Our program matches youth ages 9-12 with volunteer mentors who can serve as positive role models, introduce youth to new experiences, and provide support and encouragement during difficult times. Mentors meet with their mentee on a weekly basis for at least 1 hour per week for a full calendar year. Our staff is here to support you every step of the way, and help you find fun and innovative ways to build your connection. All volunteers must live in Lake or Cook County, pass a thorough background check, complete the volunteer application and required training modules. Interested in becoming a mentor? Do you know a young person who needs a mentor?
Spending just a few hours a month with a mentor can have a lifelong impact on a young person. We are currently accepting applications for youth ages 9-12 who live in Lake County, and have access to a computer and feel comfortable communicating on virtual platforms like Zoom. For more information about how to get started, please contact Beth Sheehan-Lucas, Youth Mentorship Program Coordinator, at (847) 782-4224 or blucas@catholiccharities.net.
