Responsibilities of Interns: Intern will work with Associate Vice President for upcoming re-accreditation process (Council of Accreditation), including reviewing program processes, outcomes, logic models, and other PQI processes.  Possible grant writing opportunities.

Special skills required/desired: Attention to detail, a basic knowledge of children’s services and best practices would be preferred.  Requires critical thinking skills and strong writing skills.

Interns(s) in this position will learn about:


1.   To gain an understanding of quality improvement policies and procedures in a large, multi-service social service agency, including agency QI processes and program QI processes.  Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the following: logic models, identifying, collecting, and reporting outcomes; satisfaction surveys; impact reporting; the importance of and uses for data; record reviews; contract compliance; and policy development and review.

2.    To gain an understanding of the process of re-accreditation: reviewing program and administrative standards for compliance, and implementing adjustments to processes to meet those standards; creating program descriptions and narratives; and learning to present evidence to the accreditation body of program compliance. 

3.   To learn some of the basic skills related to grant writing, including identification of potential funding sources/grants, gathering community-specific data, developing a comprehensive program plan, formalizing partnerships and collaborations with other services providers, and writing and submitting the grant proposals. 


Supervision Plan:  The intern will report to the Associate Vice President for Child, Youth, and Family Services and will receive supervision that is consistent with the requirements of the school. 

Special Requirements:  Prefer Master’s level intern in Social Work with some previous work experience in children and family services.

Hours available to work: Fall 2016 Monday – Friday 8:30 - 4:30
