Immigrant, Refugee, and Legal Support

For most people in the world, leaving the place they grew up is a common experience.

Perhaps time away from home may be as far as the next village or town. But for some, the need to leave their country entirely is extreme – sometimes for a short time, but sometimes forever. People all over the world are often forced to make the profound decision to leave their homes in search of a better life.

Catholic Charities coordinates programming to help immigrants and refugees develop a plan for the next stage of their lives. For immigrants, our teams can assist with family reunifications and family visa petitions, among other services recognized by the US Department of Justice. Individuals unable or unwilling to return to their home countries for fear of persecution or repression can also seek help through our programming, along with comprehensive case management, employment services, and school placement. Paired with this team is Catholic Charities Legal Assistance (CCLA), designed to provide legal services to individuals and families unable to afford representation.
