Charitable IRA Rollover

One way to make this gift is through a Charitable IRA Rollover, also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).

This provision allows our supporters aged 70½ or older to designate part or all of their IRA-required minimum distribution—up to $108,000—each year to the charities or nonprofits of their choice. You can make a profound impact by sending this distribution directly to Catholic Charities.

The plan administrator needs to address the check to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago with this tax identification number: 36-2170821 and send it to:
Catholic Charities of Chicago
P.O. Box 7154
Carol Stream, IL 60197-7154

or
Catholic Charities of Chicago
721 N. LaSalle Street
Chicago, Illinois 60654

Corporate Gift or Sponsor an Event

Make a Stock Gift

Donating appreciated securities, held for more than one year, instead of cash avoids all capital gains taxes regardless of whether or not you itemize. To preserve the tax advantages of donating stock, you must transfer the shares directly to us. Please contact our Donor Relations team at (312) 948-6797 or [email protected] for assistance.

If your broker holds the shares,
request a transfer to our broker, Northern Trust DTC #2669 for credit to Catholic Charities account #44-81515. If your broker needs assistance from our broker, contact Nick Robles (312) 557-3295 or [email protected]

If you hold a stock certificate issued in your name, contact us to request a stock power for your signature. Your signature must be medallion guaranteed by an eligible guarantor institution, such as your bank or brokerage house. Do not sign the back of the certificate. Ask us to pick up the certificate and stock power, or send them separately to Catholic Charities, Development Department, 721 North LaSalle, Chicago, Illinois 60654.

If you hold “book-entry” shares of stock in a Direct Registration Account (DRS) or through a Dividend Reinvestment Program (DRIP) with a transfer agent such as Computershare, BNY Mellon, or another agent, they cannot be transferred electronically via DTC. Instead, you should obtain a transfer form from the transfer agent’s website. Complete your portion and send it to Catholic Charities, Development Department, 721 North LaSalle, Chicago, Illinois 60654. We will complete our portion and send it to the agent to receive your shares.

Make a Gift of Mutual Funds

Mutual funds that you hold in an account at the fund company cannot be transferred electronically via DTC. Please obtain a transfer form from the fund company. Complete your portion and send it to Catholic Charities, Development Department, 721 North LaSalle, Chicago, Illinois 60654 or email to [email protected]. Catholic Charities staff will complete the appropriate portions of the form and work with the fund company to accept the shares.

Make a Gift through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)

If you are making a gift to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago through a donor advised fund, visit our online partner DAF Direct to coordinate the process. Please contact our Donor Relations team at (312) 948-6797 or [email protected] for assistance.
