Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, or other abusive behavior as part of a pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another.

Domestic violence includes physical violence, sexual violence, threats, and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically.

Catholic Charities assists victims and survivors of domestic violence through a team of compassionate professionals with opportunities to regain their dignity and independence, and move toward a safer, happier future. Through our work, which includes counseling and outreach programs and secure transitional housing residences, women and children are provided with a safe environment as they recover and rebuild their lives.
