Ways to Make a Planned Gift  

There are many ways you can make a meaningful impact on the lives of the people we serve at Catholic Charities through gift and estate planning. You can make a planned gift through:

  • Wills and trusts  
  • Donor-advised fund 
  • Retirement plan  
  • IRA rollover 
  • Stock and appreciated assets 

Bequest

A bequest is a gift you can make to support Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s mission in your will or living trust or with a codicil.  

A bequest allows you to continue to use the property you will leave to us during your life and make a lasting impact on our work after you are gone.

1. Specific Bequest

If you are considering making an outright bequest to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, we recommend the following language:  

Bequest of a Specific Dollar Amount  

I hereby give, devise and bequeath _________ and No/100 dollars ($DOLLARS) to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, a nonprofit organization located at 721 North LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654, Federal Tax ID #36-2170821, for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s general use and purpose.  

2. Percentage Bequest

If you are considering making a bequest of a percentage of your estate to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, we recommend the following language:  

I hereby give, devise and bequeath ____ percent (___%) of my total estate, determined as of the date of my death, to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, a nonprofit organization located at 721 North LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654, Federal Tax ID #36-2170821, for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s general use and purpose.  

3. Residual Bequest

I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, a nonprofit organization located at 721 North LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654, Federal Tax ID #36-2170821, ALL OR A PERCENTAGE of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s general use and purpose.  

4. Contingent Bequest

If (primary beneficiary) does not survive me, then I hereby give, devise and bequeath to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago, a nonprofit organization located at 721 North LaSalle, Chicago, IL 60654, Federal Tax ID #36-2170821, DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY to be used for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s general use and purpose.
